Common process methods for surface polishing of titanium rods!
In the production of titanium rods, due to differences in materials and processes used, surface treatment is often required for some TC4 and TC11 titanium rods. As a professional supplier of titanium alloy rods, we have compiled the following physical polishing methods suitable for surface polishing of titanium rods and titanium products through years of practical production.
1. Fine grinding
Conventional types of diamond sand rubber wheels are used to grind the surface of titanium and titanium containing alloy castings. The issue to be noted during grinding is still not to generate heat on the casting, not to cause grinding damage to the surface of the casting, and to achieve a smooth and even surface.
2. Barrel grinding method
The so-called barrel grinding method is to place the processed castings, abrasives, water, and additives into a barrel grinding groove. The grinding barrel generates rotation and vibration, causing friction between the mixture of abrasives and the processed castings, and grinding the surface of the castings smooth and flat. Its characteristics are that it does not produce dust pollution, low labor intensity, and does not generate heat during the conventional grinding process. At present, Japan has commercialized barrel grinders and abrasives used for grinding titanium and titanium containing alloy castings, other metal castings, and plastics. After testing, it has been confirmed that the PK series abrasives have the highest grinding efficiency, but also the highest surface roughness. Although the grinding efficiency of SA and B series abrasives is not as good as PK, the surface smoothness of the titanium castings after grinding is the highest. At present, the Fourth Military Medical University has successfully developed the first domestic dental barrel grinder.
3. Mechanical polishing method
The method of polishing the surface of titanium and titanium alloys using different specifications of soft cloth wheels or black brushes dipped in titanium and titanium alloy special polishing paste. When polishing titanium castings, it is necessary to ensure that the surface contamination layer of the casting is completely clear and no new grinding hardening layer has occurred, otherwise the ideal polishing effect will not be achieved. High speed and light pressure are still used during polishing. Someone has experimented with using green polishing paste to polish titanium and titanium containing alloy castings, achieving ideal polishing results. After polishing, titanium and titanium containing alloy castings cannot be immediately washed with water. It is necessary to ensure that the surface oxide film is fully formed before washing, otherwise the surface will become darker.
