Analysis of Core Characteristics and Advantages of Titanium Tube!

Update time  2025-04-17 Reading 21

Core Physical and Mechanical Characteristics

1. High specific strength

The density of titanium alloy is about 4.5g/cm ³, which is only 60% of that of steel, but its strength is comparable to high-quality steel, and its unit strength advantage is significant. For example, TC4 titanium alloy has a tensile strength of over 895MPa and is widely used in key load-bearing components such as aircraft frames and engine fasteners.

2. Excellent thermal stability

At high temperatures of 450-500 ℃, titanium tubes can still maintain high specific strength, far exceeding aluminum alloys, and are suitable for hot end components of aircraft engines. TA1 titanium tube can be used for a long time at 300 ℃ without deformation, meeting the requirements of high-temperature chemical pipelines.

3. Outstanding low-temperature performance

TA7 titanium tube maintains plasticity at ultra-low temperatures of -253 ℃, making it an ideal material for liquid hydrogen/liquid oxygen storage equipment.

Chemical and Environmental Tolerance

1. Excellent corrosion resistance

The dense oxide film on the surface of titanium pipes can resist corrosion from seawater, strong acids, chloride ions, etc., with a lifespan of more than 5 times that of carbon steel. For example, TA9 titanium palladium alloy tubes are used for transporting strongly acidic chemical media, with a corrosion rate of less than 0.01mm/year.

2. Stress corrosion resistance capability

In environments containing chloride ions, titanium pipes have significantly better resistance to pitting corrosion and stress corrosion cracking than stainless steel, making them suitable for offshore platform pipeline systems.

Special functional advantages

1. Low coefficient of linear expansion

The expansion coefficient of titanium pipelines is only 50% of that of steel, and the deformation is small during temperature fluctuations, reducing the risk of leakage at pipeline connections and improving the stability of nuclear power steam systems.

2. Excellent biocompatibility

TA1 pure titanium tube is non-toxic and harmless, with excellent compatibility with human tissues, and has been used in medical devices such as artificial joints and dental implants.

3. Combining non-magnetic and lightweight properties

Titanium tubes have low density and no magnetism, and can replace traditional materials in ship navigation equipment and MRI medical instruments to avoid electromagnetic interference.
